Exclusive Interview with Tritonal

Relatively unknown to the electronic music world in 2007, Tritonal has become one of the most recognizable names in the electronic music community, especially when it comes to trance. The partnership between Chad Cisneros and Dave Reed was formed after meeting online. While Chad was remixing tracks for the biggest labels in Austin, Texas, Dave was in Washington D.C. completing his artist album. In most recent years, Chad & Dave have become known as Tritonal, and have enjoyed a rapid rise to the top, which not many people get to experience! Over the years, Tritonal’s original tracks and remixes have been supported by some of the biggest names in the edm community such as Above & Beyond, Markus Schulz, Ferry Corsten, Stoneface & Terminal and Gareth Emery, especially their track ‘Piercing Quiet‘ which was voted as best track on Armin van Buuren’s ‘A State of Trance‘ radio show! Enjoy the quick Q&A from Chad & Dave below!

Tritonal Interview

Q: First things first, introduce your selves to our readers

Hi guys, Chad & Dave here, coming from our studio in Austin, TX today. We’re getting ready to play the massive Escape From Wonderland this weekend in LA. Tritonal formed a bit over 3 years ago when the two of us met online at a sound design forum. We quickly established a friendship, which has now led to a pretty successful partnership.

Q: How do you feel about your placement in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs this year?

We’re sooo excited to have cracked the poll this year at #83! In a year when loads of trance artists either dropped spots or out of the poll entirely, we rose almost 40 spots! This can be directly attributed to our amazing #Tritonians around the world and their incredible support for us. We’re so grateful to them.

Q: Its been a massive year for you guys. Phenomenal album (piercing the quiet) and playing at one of the biggest events in the US (EDC LV).. How do you guys feel rising up so quickly?

We feel absolutely blessed. We’ve worked so hard over the last 3 years and to finally see our dream become a reality is surreal! We LOVE producing and pray that we can do this the rest of our lives.

Q: Paving a new road for US trance artists such as Norin & Rad and Breakfast, where do you see trance in the US going?

EDM is taking over in the US, especially festival-wise. The fact that EDM is so fresh and new to most people in the US makes it very exciting. It’s influencing Pop, Hip Hop, R&B and more. We think this gives artists like Tritonal amazing exposure. Cross-pollination between genres is at a all time high and it’s cool to witness how artistic and inspiring this is to certain artists.

Q: They say two are always better than one, do you agree :-p?

Abso-Friggin-Lutely! We split remixing projects, radio & video work, and have a partner in crime on tour – #thatsthewayweroll

Q: How is it does it compare when you guys play in other countries to the US?

It’s been awesome rocking out Korea, Singapore, Australia, Indonesia, UK, Moscow, Europe and the likes – they go for it and are every bit as enthused as our US fans! Tritonians are rising up worldwide.

Q: Backed with a powerful and high quality system which gig was the most memorable this year for you guys?

Hands down – Electric Daisy Carnival has been our most amazing gig ever. Production-wise our minds were blown. If you haven’t experienced it, definitely try to get tickets when they go on sale in November!

Q: We know you guys utilize Christina Soto in most of your tracks. What a great relationship you guys have with her! Where did you guys first meet or collaborate?

Cristina lives in our hometown of Austin and was introduced to us by a friend. We instantly fell in love with her voice and personality – she’s our SongBird. <3

Q: Any shout outs and words to your fans or Drop Beats Not Bombs readers?

Absolutely want to thank our Tritonians around the globe for voting and supporting us this year! We’re certainly aware of your passion and love for good music and we appreciate the support we’ve received.

Appreciate you guys for this interview, we hope to see you guys soon an possibly a video interview in the future! Thanks Chad and Dave :)
